As we have
continually seen throughout our study on prayer, we need to know Who He is
(Psalm 100:3), Elohiym, and who we are, His people (Psalm 100:3).
When we
understand that Jesus is Lord/kyrios (2962), we will rejoice (have joy over and over again)
because we know He has power and authority over even those circumstances that
cause us to be anxious.
And Psalm 118 reminds
us over and over that His lovingkindness is everlasting! Thank You, Lord!
Additional comments:
When I studied about
the lampstand used in the tabernacle and temple, I learned that the middle
candle is called the servant lamp because it is from that middle candle, which
is lit first, that the other candles are lit.
The servant lamp, of course, represents Christ.
Psalm 118:8 is the
middle verse of the entire Bible, so it is metaphorically the servant lamp of
the Bible: It is better to take refuge
in the Lord than to trust in man.
What did you learn about
prayer from these verses?
What relationship do you
see between prayer and thanksgiving?
According to Philippians
4:6, what is to accompany our prayers and requests? Discuss what that looks like in the life of
a believer and how this element of prayer relates to you.
Whoever is studying
along, please feel free to answer these questions when you can. Or just share your thoughts without
answering the questions.
I hope to hear from others joining in this
journey of learning more about prayer and TruthHimself.
